Wild turkeys were first introduced in Idaho in 1961 by the Idaho Deptartment of Fish and Game. The Idaho State Chapter of NWTF was first chartered in 1983 in Boise and immediately begin contributing to the conservation and propogation of the wild turkey. Since the inception of the NWTF in Idaho, local chapters have been organized throughout the state.
Today, eleven active chapters comprise the Idaho State Chapter – all working together for the betterment of Idaho's wild turkeys, educating youth, hunters and conservationists, and even creating new hunting and viewing opportunities through habitat improvement and by funding IDF&G trap and transplant projects statewide.
